Gillian Robertson
The Savage

Canada
Runs winning streak to four
Robertson defeated Marina Rodriguez via TKO (punches) at 2:07 of Round 2 at UFC Fight night on Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
ANALYSIS
It goes in the books as a rare knockout victory for Robertson, but it was another fight that was won on the strength of her superior wrestling. Facing a noted poor defensive grappler in Rodriguez, Robertson landed 2-of-3 takedowns for 5:21 worth of control time. She was eventually able to mount a prone Rodriguez and fire off countless unanswered blows until referee Bruce Allen stepped in. The 29-year-old Canadian has come out of nowhere to win four in a row and six of her last seven. Robertson is quietly closing in on title-implicating fights at 115 pounds.

Fighting Rodriguez in May
Robertson will take on Marina Rodriguez at a UFC event in Des Moines on May 3, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Robertson will look to improve to 3-0 in her young UFC career when she takes on the more experienced Rodriguez in May. The 29-year-old Canadian will have to overcome disadvantages in both height and reach against the older Brazilian, though her Jiu-Jitsu background will likely lead her to make this a close-quarters affair. Robertson will also likely look to get in close to lessen the effects of Rodriguez's power, as the 37-year-old Brazilian boasts a 7-1 record in KO/TKO finishes.

Wrestling game leads to win
Robertson defeated Luana Pinheiro via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Robertson fights to her strengths as well as any female on the UFC roster. She's not the most talented, but she knows what works and she sticks to it. In this and every case, it was 17 takedown attempts, five of which landed. That resulted in 8:13 worth of control time and a clear cut unanimous decision victory. Gillian's striking isn't great and she's going to struggle to generate offense if those takedowns aren't landing, but she has one elite skill to fall back upon in the event of trouble. The Canadian is 5-1 in her past six bouts dating back to September 2022 and is quickly climbing the rankings at 115 pounds.

Will face Pinheiro
Robertson will face Luana Pinheiro in a strawweight bout at a UFC event on Nov. 9, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Robertson will look to make it three straight victories in the UFC, as she's won her past two fights and most recently defeated Michelle Waterson-Gomez via unanimous decision. She's significantly more experienced in the promotion than her opponent Pinheiro, who is 3-2-0 and has dropped her past two fights.

Improves to 4-1 in past five fights
Robertson defeated Michelle Waterson-Gomez via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) at UFC 303 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was as dominant a 15-minute showing from Robertson as you will ever see. She spent 12:34 of the bout controlling her opponent, much of it from mount. When all was said and done, Robertson had a 122-41 edge in total strikes landed. The toughness of Waterson-Gomez was the lone reason Gillian didn't earn the stoppage here. Still just 29 years of age, Robertson has improved tremendously since moving to Florida full-time to work with the team at the Goat Shed. She's 4-1 in her past five fights and most definitely trending in the right direction.
